If you see smoke coming from a barn while driving the rural landscape of southern Todd County, think twice before calling 911! These barns are housing tobacco. Fire-cured tobacco is hung in large barns where fires of hardwoods are kept on continuous or intermittent low smolder. Pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, and snuff are fire cured.
